Penetrol on a gun stock
I have a gun that got a bit wet at the last shoot. It looks like an oil finish and I'm thinking of using penetrol to refinish it. Has anyone tried this? I'm looking for something that will take a bit of use, resist the ravages of weather and look good. I'm not into a high gloss finish as I quite like the satin oiled look.
Cheers
Mal

If your willing to put a bit of work into it, Birchwood Caseys' True Oil is awsome,it will seal the wood and with several coats leaves a beautiful finish.

Hi There
I do not now if you guys have Danish oil there but we use Rustins or a South African make by the name of Gobelins Danish oil-this works very well and is waterproof as well, and will not give you a shiny finish but definitaly a velvet finish-enjoy

Hers is a link that might be of interest in finishing gun stock. Follow the instuctions depending on the current state of the stock. Cabotts Danish Oil is the one i use. For a stain finish always wipe of after 60 to 90 sec. Dont let it dry.
