Pinhole borer???
Is this fella a pinhole borer?
If so what is the best treatment, hopefully something I can do myself.
It is from a slab of blackwood, it is flat on one side curved on the other, when I removed the bark on the backside in one area I came across a few of them. I'm pretty sure I got all of them but would rather use an insecticide of some sort to be sure.

Mountain Pine Beetle destroyed some 18,000,000 ha lodgepole pine and ponderosa pine.
In part, the population did not experience enough sudden extreme cold to kill the larvae under the tree bark.
We had a long spell of -30C and colder just this January past, hope that helped.
So for working wood supply, sudden 48 hour episodes in a freezer are spaced 72 hr apart at room temperature.
The bugs can cope with gradual cooling.
But they have no chance with sudden brutal drops to -20C then up to +20C, again and again.
Have you got a freezer to give those bugs a taste of a Canadian winter? Imagine living in your freezer.

Thanks fo advice, I would definitely prefer to find a natural solution, but the piece of wood is too big for my freezer. About 3m long.
