Why range hood heights minimum heights?
Hi all,
not sure if this is the right place to post but am wondering why there is a minimum height for a range hood over a gas stove top?
As silly as this sounds I cant seem to find any info as to why it is 650mm.

Nrb
They are usually 600 mm above the cook top and thats because that is the common height of cupboards above bench tops.

The regulations are quite specific with regards to minimum height from cook top to range hood. An electric stove top requires 600mm while gas cook tops require 650mm MINIMUM.
The reason is the heat source. They claim that gas is hotter than electric stove top. Cupboards are therefore built around these regulations.
You will probably find that the insurance industry is making the noises in regard to the distancesJust do it!
Kind regards Rod
