Rimu
I recently sanded back two NZ Rimu stools that had been varnished and had become chipped and scratched. The timber has come up beutifully but I wonder whether to revarnish with a poly or are there any better suggestions?

2-3 coats of shellac if you mess it up it washes off with meths,
good quality bees wax polish
shell ac dries fast so you dont have to wait 12-24 hours between coats.
gives abeautiful soft shine, then the more often you waxthe better but 1=2 rubovers will last years, when it needs a new coat just wax it
this is the traditional finish and vastly superior to the plastic look of polly.
