    Default Rubbing out Shellac

Can you get a high gloss sheen by using automotive cutting compound and polish on shellac?.

I've recently tried this with autosol, and yes the difference is quite obvious.

    Hope this helps.

edit: time will tell if there are issues with this that can arise later.

    So,

take a test piece and get it to a nice finish with shellac.
Polish half of it (half of the same side) with your compound of choice and then gauge the difference in reflection against a light or well defined object.

it was really quite clear how much the clarity of reflection had improved on the polished half.

    Cheers, Jeff

Thanks for clarifying that Jeff. I didn't know if it would cause cloudiness. I'll give it a go with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound & Ultimate Polish.
