looking at using a 1/4 sheet sander as a finishing sander using grits up to and including 2000 or even 2500 - i have a very nice old bosch 125mm ROS but it is very hard getting anything over 400grit disks so i thought of using the 1/4 sheet - the bosch is excelent by the way for breaking the glaze and leveling between spraying but 400 is a bit coarse to start on with cutting compounds using a buffing machine - i usually buff with swirl remover after 2500 then polish

currently i am sanding by hand and hope to save my crook shoulder a bit by using the small sander - i realise the orbital action leaves tiny circlets in the job but sanding by hand leaves marks as well -

will i be losing anything in the finish by using the orbital instead of hand sanding??
