Sealing Acrilic Artwork Painted On Raw Wood
Hi Folks,
I have just had a friend paint a batch of wooden flutes I make, new to this type of finishing and looking for the best effect. I Just thought I would see if anyone has any experience with this type of thing on any wood work.
I have considered just going back to poly tung oil and doing a wipe off methid to get silk smooth coats, but honestly I hate the smell of that stuff and I have chemical sensitivity. I have since tried water based poly which I think is the biggest waste of time as it has not nearly the thinness and penetration of the solvent based stuff and is majorly over priced in small cans too. So before this project I have been using natural oils with fantastic results, the problem is besides my trust and love in using them they really wont protect the artwork like an external coating poly. I have considered nitro celulose but again toxic and I prefer brush on.
So folks any ideas here. I am sure there are some tricks here. Let me know if it helps to see a pic.
Thanks

Easiest answer is to use a turps based enamel product, it won't affect the paint coating N?C may attack it depending on actual paint used.( fry or wrinkle the paint).
Single pack poly in satin or gloss ( or what ever you like) brush on two coats as per instructions.
