    Default Different Shades

I have a friend as we all do that has this problem.

Well actually it is not so bad a problem as I am just seeking some advise. This friend has an old table that folds down table top on either side so very little room is taken up when folded.

He is thinking of just sanding down the top and then refinishing. We think that this is solid timber as the table is old, Very old. The center is lighter then the two outer leafs of the top as one would expect from exposure to natural light.

What would be the best way of trying to match the top with the main support of the table. Should I be looking at getting this whole thing sanded back to the raw timber and refinish the whole lot?

Pictures would help. I would suggest that you have it appraised by some one that knows about antiques. It is likely you will do more harm than good by re-finishing the table. Might be best to just rub some of U-Beauts refinishing oil with some 0000 steel wool.

Yeah. I understand but it is after all not my table.

One good thing about my friend is that he is slow in getting things done. With all the rain that has come our way in Sydney no chance for him to do anything.

Here are the pictures of the table. When I went to take a picture of the table I discovered that he is using it as oddly enough as a table. He has placed this in the corner and stored other furniture around it. So the only pictures I could take were there.

I guess you can not really make out too much with these photos. I know this he will not be doing anything with this table for a little while.
