Thread: Shellac, what am I missing

I don't think it can - something to do with it being a hazardous good...

Hmmm.......The U-Beaut site has it available for export, so it should be good for the post.

Please note, I don't actually think shellac is dangerous. Well, no more dangerous than poly or plastic packaging. I'm just interested in the customs and postal regulations.....we had a small problem with a cat toy set in the post from Oz, who'd of thought it would contain actual cat-nip?

Some time ago I saw a video with Frank Klausz (spelling?) french polishing. He was using the traditional method of application but it was not traditional french polish. I can't remember the name but I had a bottle bought for me and used it on the top of a queensland walnut desk.
It seemed very 'thin' compared with normal polish and a little slower to dry. The latter meant it was more forgiving but the former meant that the surface had to be absolutely perfectly filled as it didn't seem much good for bodying up.
The finish was excellent though not quite of a french-polished depth though that could be due to the surface preparation.
