    Default Tallowood Coffee Table Finish.

    I've been building a nice solid coffee table out of some Tallowood decking, I've come to the stage where i need to find a suitable finish, i certainly want to avoid any stains. the table top has a chessboard embedded into it made of Tasmanian oak and some Aussie redwood. I have been looking into Preschem AUSSIE CLEAR Timber Oil, the reason i've been looking into this is that this timber is a naturally oily timber and from what i have researched a very finish resistant timber. This finish is an exterior finish but considering this is generally and exterior sort of timber, it seems like an ideal finish.
    i'm looking for some advice regarding this product or similar, is it good, is it not ideal for this project etc
    also if anyone has some idea on any other finishing products or methods i could use that will give me a strong and generally clear finish that would be great
    i've also attached some pictures of the project in its current state.

    I 've made some large tallowwood bench tops, I used 2 coats of tung oil and then a coat of carnauba wax and then buffed off

    We have tallowwood floors with Wattyl 7008 two pack, gloss polyurethane finish. We added a bit of thinner with the first coat to lock into the tight timber. It's lasted very well. Certainly tough enough for a coffee table. Comes in satin as well I think. Tallow sure is slippery stuff - I recall having half a ton of floorboards on rack atop a ute. Driving on quiet country bitumen road, braked for a dog, ute stopped, timber kept going and skidded a long way down the road, dog danced in it and was unscathed. Hardly a board had scratches both sides and all was used as planned. Wish I had a dash cam back then!!
