Default Refinishing a tip shop special

Dropped off some green waste at the tip the other day so dropped in to the newly opened tip shop to see what I could get for my still unfurnished house.
I picked up a small chest of drawers/bedside cabinet for $10 (well $9.90 - there were 2 5 cent coins in one of the drawers). The main reason I picked it out was that it was solid timber rather than particle board/MDF.
A bit of a sand today showed it's not just stained pine as I'd assumed but (confirmation required) tassie oak - see inside of cabinet. Not an antique as it's (mostly) stapled together but better than I'd expected for the price.
Top view is after sanding, one side wiped with a damp rag.

What's a good finish for this piece? I'd prefer a matt rather than gloss result

For mine I like Danish oil, couple of coats and rubbed down with fine grade steel wool between coats.

I love the tip shops in Tassie, great to see stuff sensibly recycled and reused and funding the tip itself. We visited one near Coningham on our last trip, bought books and Fowlers jars.
