Tung oil on red cedar
This is the base of an old office chair that I started to clean using a scraper (on the ugliest of brown paint) and then fine sand paper and finally applied first layer of Tung oil. Really happy that it has caused some grain to be exposed. Thought I would share to show what Tung oil can do with red cedar.

Tung Oil is great
I do a mixture of Tung Oil 30%, Clear Satin Polyurethane 40% and Turps 30% for all my toys and projects.
The grain and colour just pops with the Tung Oil!!

It really does bring it out, doesn't it! I just used Kitchen Timber Oil (which I understand is mostly Tung Oil??) on a project with Tasmanian Oak, and it came out great too.

Crowie's mixture gives a great finish and is easy to apply.

I bought the Tung Oil from Sceneys in Melbourne for something like $26 per litre delivered.
Decking Oil, Tung Oil, Linseed Oil, Citrus Solvent, Fence Black

Must admit I'm being more conscious on hobby costs these days and really upping the sell prices on my pieces. Before people snapped them up moments after I posted them but now I have to answer a few more questions but still getting the prices or close enough.

While the red cedar is light the steel is thick and heavy.

Are you sure its cedar? Front lip on the seat looks like an oak to me.
