    Default UBeaut EEE - On headlights!

    I have an older car that I am just cleaning up to sell off. Due to being exposed to the western sun the headlights had started to go a little cloudy and I thought it would be good to clean them up prior to the sale.

    I saw a few weeks ago Aldi had headlight restoration kits on sale, unfortunately I missed out. You Tube seems to suggest wet and dry paper - the lights couldn’t get much worse so I decided to give it a shot. It worked up a nice slurry, but after a little while they were looking worse.

    I went up to M10 for something else and saw that they had a restoration product for yellow headlights for around $30 - I left it thinking I would do some more research.

    Anyway after getting back home I thought I would give EEE a shot. After all it’s a cutting compound. Out to the car and less than 2 minutes of light rubbing has totally cleared the lens. I washed the car afterwards and the water just beaded off the light due to the wax. Not sure of any long term issues, but for now it’s worked a treat.

    Plastic headlights are coated with a UV inhibitor which slowly fails/wears out and the headlight goes cloudy. You can polish them easily but unless you replace the protective layer they will go cloudy again very quickly. The best headlight repair kits include that protection.

    wet and dry for bad ones then metal polish and finish with toothpaste to really get them smooth.

    If you can't find the inhibitor coating headlight protectors will do the job and maybe prevent a rock into the bargain. $$$ though.
