    Default Water based enamel

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has successfully sprayed water based enamel through a gravity feed spray gun? I have a paint spray gun and I've had all sorts of dramas with it. I could be doing something wrong and probably am but I am spraying it white and it was already White so it is really hard to see exactly where I have sprayed and overlap by 50% So I was ending up with a dry type looking spray between my passes, so I tuned the fluid up a bit so I can more see wet coats and have ended up with runs.

I'm hoping if I can spray it trough a gravity feed spray gun with the pressure turned up I'll be able to see more where I have been. I have a gun with a 2.0 needle so hoping I can spray the water based enamel with that.

Be interested in your thoughts on if it can be done or tips on spraying white on white water based enamel paint through a paint sprayer.

    Thanks
    Geoff

I resprayed white outside furniture last week. Used a cheap Trade Tools LVLP gravity fed spray gun with 2mm needle. Paint was water based white exterior gloss (Taubmans from memory from green shed) thinned about 10% with water. Happy with finish for outside furniture.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm actually doing semi gloss paint, and it is for bedroom furniture. I find it hard to see the paint going on so I can overlap by 50% on every pass so was thinking maybe if I use the gravity feed with more air pressure I'll sight it better. Not sure it will work but I'm sick of not being able to nail it with the paint sprayer

    Absolutely impossible.

I used to spray a lot. I have all the gear and an excellent technique.

Eliminating dry spots, maintaining a wet edge, not getting runs, getting it to sit flat... GAH!

    Impossible.

Swap to any oil-based you'll be thankful!
