Looking good the rosette in particular and more pics of the rosette?
Any special tricks installing those last few over body frets?

    Thanks Ross,

I'll try and fish out some more pics of the rosette going in.

The last few frets just get banged in the same as the others, the only thing I different is hold a caul under the upper bout. The same caul is also used when gluing the fretboard on.

No fear of breaking something in that unsupported area?
It seems like lots of people go to all sorts of trouble and expence with fancy jigs presses clamps etc for this job. Would you say that all that is not needed?

    Nice work there Martin.

Got anything on the build process? I would be very interested in the build process of a 12 string. Would be quite a challenge,

    Cheers,

    Peter

Thanks for the positive comments....makes it all worthwhile.

    Answers to questions:

    1. Peter. I didnt take alot of pics of this build. Having taken over 1500 phtos of the last two builds I found I was spending more time taking photos then actually building. Ill see what I can find and post up a few pics if possible. As far as construction goes its not alot different or more difficult than building a 6 string dreadie. Theres an extra tone bar under the lower bout and the top is a bit thicker around the bridge area than on my 6 strings. Braces are probably a fraction higher than on my 6 strings also.

    2. Ross. I've never had anything come loose under the upper bout while hammering in frets. The best thing to use is a bag of lead shot but I haven't gotten around to getting same so I make do with the wooden caul.

    3. Scally. My last dreadnaught had a big but balanced sound....I'm hoping the 12 string sounds much the same. Theres only one way to find out for sure!

    4. Hey there Harry. How are things going up north? Last time I saw you there was talk of a meet up of Adelaide forumites at my place. Im still working on it...maybe sometime in the New year when the BBQ weather returns.

    Cheers Martin

Given a choice I'd probably prefer to press my frets in but for the time being I'll whack them in with a hammer. I'll probably press the frets in on the next build.
