Hey there, thought I might sign up and share a few more details.

    floody,
The amp is approximately 5watts, I think I might recall 4w clean output when I measured it, and a little bit more when square waving

In general, yes the actual build is very simple, but you are working with very high voltages. Off the top of my head, I think the power transformer used pushes out 600volts AC, CT, at 60ma or so. Way more than is required to stop your heart. There is also the problem of trouble-shooting. You will normally encounter one of more problems, and it can be very frustrating to diagnose and fix...

I'm currently working on a "Hi-Octane" amp, which is another little 5w beast, using an SE EL84 power stage. After that I will see about tackling Andrew's 50w JCM800 build.

    Hi-Octane:

That bring back memories. Back in my early days in electronics, prior to transistors being popular, I made many a chassis.

The old 6v6 audio output was common in radios. used heaps.
Must be 30 or so years since I did that stuff.

Did you build Hi-Octanes inside the valve junior chassis? I'm actually using a set of VJ transformers since I got them at a very nice price, the extra voltage will push that EL84 a little harder though
