as i mentioned, Nic and myself decided on sharper corners for the cutout.

we were thinking of trying an inlay, but i didnt feel i could pull it off (not setup for it yet), but i thought i would see if i could cut it atleast..

after taking Stu's advice, i had a look around for flat stuff in bunnings/etc.....
couldnt find any, bit the bullet and splashed the cash on a 16" leveling beam from stewmac,
heavy lil b*sta*rd, has some nicks and a dent in it though, emailed them to see what they have to say,
got a dvd the dan erlewine made in the 80's? too, haha hes so young...
good dvd, but alot of techniques that are frowned upon now days i guess,

when my next package arrives, i have some refrets too do,
an old ibanez S, a strat, and funny enough an erlewine laser (talk about a freaky looking guitar.....)

    funny arent ya

amp build is going slow, waiting for nic to make purchases and decisions (gives me a break though)

guitar progress, hmm theres 4 or 5 laying around the workshop in various stages of building, i have a couple of other projects im working on,
kinda leaning towards getting setup to do some repairs and stuff i have been asked to do,
    repairs and setups = money,
    money = more tools,
more tools = andrew can do more advanced repairs,
more advanced repairs = more money,
more money = andrew registers buisness name and gets headstock decals and gets various jigs and templates cnc'ed, aswell as a larger bandsaw, a larger drill press, a benchtop jointer, some wenge/purpleheart/ebony/rosewood/figured maple/etc and another set of fluros

    in the meantime im busy
and its hot, and thats annoying...

i just send some huge ass pics to them, and well you cant argue with pics that show the damage better than seeing it in person... lol

so they send me replacements quick smart

    good customer service though

i wanna go to trend, but i have no money now hahahaha

ahh dear strat, you've seen better days

just need to find a decent set of straps, cut some leather pads, grab some carpet for the top (might cover the whole thing, or paint it), buy some t-nuts(?) or threaded inserts, some rubber feet thingies to slip on the ends of those rods, and a few other things

Ive been looking into building a neck jig too lol...I was reading my fret works book last nite and it made me realise how handy they are! Luckily I have &$^%loads of carpet to cover it so my guitars dont get scratched. Are u putting the dials on it too?

Trend should be good...Hopefully they have wat I want...Im planning an explorer build with floyd rose prob mahogany body and maple neck and just oil it and hopefully an rg wit maple neck wit purple heart strips. It all depends on how much money I spend in hawaii lol

you got the book? and didnt tell me? tut tut tut.....

yea i did a bit of reading online and saw that they can come in handy for various things, and its also a smaller surface than my bench so its easy to get around,

so i thought why not... i got a heap of pine nd crap laying aond so ill build one,
if it works, it works, if it doesnt, big woop, cut it up and build something else with the pine lol

    snd me some carpet

i dunno about dials, might look ito it in the future, but i reckon i dont really need them...
just need to get my hands on a nice straight edge..

    10 or 12mm aluminium rod,

the only problem is the screws to hold the rods in place,
steel to alu contact isnt smart,
so i have two ideas to make it work nicely

    we shall see what happens,
in the meantime, i need to find some of those T screws, or threaded inserts

i added a lil shalf under the body support sectio of this neck jig, though it might come in handy to hold my nippers and files during fretwork

on another note i was looking over this strat, as i am getting ready to refret it, and i noticed something..... something that scares me a lil...

can you see what im scared of?

in the meantime, better do some more work on this tele + various templates in the making

Andew, whats the worst that could happen ? If you mess it up it becomes a 21 fretter.... no big deal

You right though, the treble side definately is very thin !! Wonder how that came to be ?.. Thats a weird taper frpm the bass side to the treble side..

You mighht be able to glue a shim under there before you attempt to refret.
