its strange....
this whole guitar is strange,
theres nothing "squire-ish" about the whole thing,
especially how the finish has darkened on the neck,
the only thing is the side dots being out of alignment lol...
but the taper on the fret slots is a wierd one....
i am now wondering if they are flat bottomed slots, or radiused to the board...
iv also never seen a fretboard overhang cut like this one....
mind you that pickgaurd is another 2mm thicker than the standard gaurd it came with.....
iv never taken the neck of this guitar , will be interesting to see if theres anything in the pocket.
the other thing, these frets are seated so well.... its gonna be a b!tch grabbing them with the fret pullers... haha thats really why im worried about that last fret....
seriously, the best seated frets i have seen in my life.... i wish they had more meat on them, then i could get away with a fret level....

Did u buy it brand new or 2nd hand? Sounds like a weird one..
My squiers frets are pretty good too..too small but lol...I only really play it when im in the mood for blues..
Good luck with it..Seeing u refret ur guitar might make me inspired (and brave) enough to refret my '92 ibanez!!

it was an ebay purchase, had it sent from brisbane to me...
looking at the serial nuber its chinese and an 01 model, i am assuming i recieved it in 03 or 04
iv never seen another squire lke it.. ith the sparkly paint and nice neck with colour (as opposed to the pale things you see everywhere... lol)
it still has a month or so to wait before i refret it, gotta wait for my 2kg of fretwire to arrive, then choose what wire i would like to use...
i saw you got one of those lil slot cleaning saws, any good?

i saw dan using the stew mac slot cleaning tool in one of the dvds, they look really tight in the slot...
i ground mine from axacto blade, fits in the slots nicely
hmmm i might make up a small saw like that... i like making things.. lol
on another note...
5cm thick tele body.... i think not....
three options,
1-use router jig thingo to plane down the surface,
2-plane by hand
3-andrew style muscle building excersise
i chose 3.. haha (memories).....
from one
to two
hahaha
now its time to go find this price list for chris

energy? bahahaha i wish
i actually had to get ready to go out to dinner (missus party)
so i got all dressed and was waiting waiting waiting for my aunty to pick me up, and i was like hmmm i wonder if i could cut the last of the middle section without getting my clothes dirty before she arrrives
needless to say i pulled it off with seconds to spare
that last cut, and you hear the lil remaining fibers break, very happy time
now im recovering
no worries, i am sure i got a hell of alot more prices from them,
they were a bit worried abot giving me prices for the sizes i asked as "prices are subject to change unexpectedly"
but i ended up getting fair price estimates...

Yeah that's a weird looking setup with that last fret (referring to black strat on the jig in earlier post) If the slot goes through the fretboard at the same depth then that means the fret is holding the end of the fretboard on. Fret slots should never go right through the fretboard like that. Looks like someone wasnt thinking when they did the modification to the end of that fretboard.
BTW when's the last time you changed those strings? The macro pics show up the corrosion nicely!Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

its very strange, i cant wait to get the neck off and have a look see at the underside of the fingerboard overhang,
it looks like it has been cut down, i dont remember doing it so unless the dude before me did it then i have no idea if that is from the factory or what
hmm who else here has an 01 standard squier strat?
hahhaha i saw a bit of rust in one of the pics, was hoping no one would see
i dont change strings often, probably 2 or 3 times through out a year
i rarely even play guitar at all now days, untill recently i hadnt played an electric for months
