Man youve been busy! Im lovin the 7 string. I thought the same thing about the lower horn. Id be scared about breaking it off.
I was at the local guitar shop on friday talking about the new ibanez rgd.Its a 26.5" scale and factory tuned to D..Apparently there is so much room for intonation, you can tune down as low as G!!!!!!
And on another note, i wont be around for a week..Finally got married yday so we fly out to hawaii tonite!! WOO HOO!!!!!
Just leave all that wood on my doorstep alrite andy! Cheers mate

why the hell would you be thowing a custom instrument around for a horn to break off
hahahaha, its fine, would take one hell off a swing to even get close to breaking it off,
and that would only be the tip...
but i have changed up the design now
those rgd's are fugly
i have some 26.5" fretboards comming
haha jeez, that happened so fast, feels like only yesterday we were told about the wedding plans.. lol
good one man
and have fun in hawaii, dont perve on too many hooolla girlsss
as for my mahog blanks, you can try and glue the cracked one together if you want haha

Enjoying your updates as usual Andrew. Gotta get of my proverbial and get things cranked back up in my workshop. Work and an aging parent back in NZ not leaving me much time for building. First job when I get home is to get the new drum sander commissioned so I can work up some neck veneer for the lute.

still waiting on a handle...
all the roundovers done, couple of crappy bits filled, some glue residue to get off in various spots...
ready for some major sanding
now, the 7...... has a TOM...
iv worked on TOM equiped guitars before, but im not keen on them (same deal with trems)
my question, is there a secret way to properly position the damn tthings?
i remember a convo ages ago where Stu mentioned that to get a proper range of intonation adjustment ou should place the bass side approx 5mm further back?
am i in dream world or did you say that? lol
since it will be tuned down, would it be smart to place it a tad further back?
hmmm another thing with the TOM, even though i will recess it a couple of mm,
the strings WILL rest on the back edge of the TOM between the saddles and the string thru holes...
but i talked to a mate with a COW7 and he took some pics and it looks like most TOM equipt 7 strings tend to have the strings resting on the back edge...
maybe all string through TOM equipt guitars do? lol
bit of a mock up to see if i even got the neck angle right,
reworking a design,
horns are larger, but still slim

I did spend a lot of money in an element skate shop...Bought so many clothes!! And I know u like ur dvs shoes andy..I bought a pair for $40!!!

about time you got back haha,
havnt done anything since my last post,
considering its a prototype, i dont really careif i need to plug and redrill a hole to move the TOM back if need be....
thats why im doin prototypes lol, so i know for future builds.
should be ok though.
jeeez, why tease me with cheap DVS for
cheers big ears,
hm i dunno how much difference there is, i just noticed there were some that looked larger than others lol,
im not set up to slot my own stuff yet,
i wouldnt mind going with something like Stu's slotting saw, its simple and effective,
and he still hasnt posted a thread on it?

getting ready to rout the control cavity,
the piece of acrylic is there so i can multi task and make an acrylic template before the mdf starts going furry,
plan is to make up a couple of acrylic templates, and get a fw drawn i cad, and go get them all made from steel
