My first acoustic guitar build
Finished my first acoustic a few days ago. I followed Chris Wynne's Acoustic Masterclass DVD set pretty much to the letter other than the wood species.
Sitka Spruce Top
Macassar Mahogany Back and Sides
Queensland Maple Neck
Indian Rosewood Fretboard and binding
Paua shell (abalone) inlays and rosette (with plastic b/w/b purfling)
It sounds very good. As good if not better than my $1000 Maton. A lot of bottom end. Not muddy, just very clear defined bass. The finish is 6 coats of wiped on Danish oil then a few coats of buffed out beeswax.

Nice work, very tidy inlay pockets on the initials. Is that shape from the book, it looks to have a very flat bottom.

Very nicely done, better then my first, or second etc. I love Mahogany. Good that its a player as well. Are you planning more?

Thanks. I keep reading that mahogany is always a good choice for back and sides. This set only cost me $60 from ebay and $20 for the top from Stewmac yet it sounds and looks great.
There will definitely be more. The next will be all Aussie tonewood. I want to try Tassie blackwood back and sides. I've got an SG and strat clone that I'm working on now and I want to try my own design on an electric as well, so it'll be down the track sometime. So many ideas, so little time. I wish I could chuck in my day job and build all day long .
