ooohhh mate I can be soooooooooooo deep it scares the livin whatsists outta me!
Spinal what? loud has been around for ages (megadeath etal) but when someone thinks theyre going to be a "rockgod" because they have pots that go to 50 on their guitar but fail to change the same on the amps (10 again) or take into account stereo systems cd players and mp3s (10 again) then I think that persons a tad shall we say delusional?
oooh no doubt he'll be smokin but it would be the whacky tabbacky rather than a louder sound comin from the AMP which is still restricted to... ahem... 10
But hey no worries you go for broke why not go all out and scale that thing all the way out of the stratasphere boot it up to 100 an blow your mind? I mean 50? pissweek sonshine get into it!!... but I will bet my left knut that the sound doesnt go any higher than... 10 to anyone listening
but its cool!!Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

This discussion is waaaaay over my head. Im glad Im an acoustic builder...the only knobs I have to worry about are the ones who think Im a famous accomplished luthier about to build them their dream instrument.
Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

who knows man
why dont you build it and lets know
it definitely wont sound crap or like a les paul
but it will sound great in its own silky oak kinda way
specially if you give it some nice pickups
nice wood + carefull solid craftsmanship + top electronics = great sounding guitarray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

If you're thinking of using SD pups, check out the Pickup Lounge at SD's site
for opinions on not only their products, but a lot of other brands of pups

for a les paul sound you got SD seth lovers [total vintage very high dollar] SD pearly gates bridge and jazz neck [most popular rock combo] SD 59's [a very good copy of what the les paul's used mostly]
I heard GFS Fat PAFS the other day which are very nice and quite cheap.
I always use Duncans because they are consistent from set to set and i always like em. Chances are with SD's that you will like em straight up. Nothing worse than going through a few sets of cheapies and in the end still having to buy good ones as well.resale on cheapes is nothin. SD"s you might get 60% back.
depends on what you want for this guitar. for a start i would forget about getting the les paul sound but on the other hand build it like a les paul.and it prolly will. mahogany and maple is a les paul. they never made em outa silky oak.
like i said before make it up and lets know how it sounds. personally i reckon it will be killer and you might even like it better than a les paul.ray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'
