oh...tht wide piece be good for tops/backs anyways so bookmatching be da typical use for such a piece imo

prob need a centre strip to make width big enough for most popular body shapes though

as for build thread...i am close to finishing a body and neck is mostly done so such a thread is prob a lil late

but i will post it when it is done ...whenever the weather clears up ...wild/wooly/watery....the only place i can do this stuff is outside

might need a centre strip, might have to look and see... unless i do a neck thru with the thru section exposed....

Just looked back at your finished bass pics (and exceedingly badly made pizza)
I reckon the designed shape, timbers used and overall aesthetics really make this bass quite unique and one of those shapes that quietly whispers
'I dare you to pick me up' while it screams vengeance while playing it. (That's a compliment, Andy) Looks mad and no doubt plays the same.
The one thing I really admire about bass builders and players is the fact they tend to be more adventurous with designs and more so with their choices in electronics.

needs a bit more tweeking, but at the moment (apart from a lil buzz on 2 or 3 frets) i like it!
the bridge(s) are actually quite comfortable....
i think i did a good job with the fret ends.. they feel nice too....
im going to make a new nut as the spacing isnt how i want it.... easilly done...
the shape is sweet...
bevels feel great.... the neck actually feels pretty damn good!
pretty thin too....
very comfortable in my opinion....
the finish on the neck is a bit gay, so i gave it a quick rub with some steel wool hoping that it would give it a better feel....
and thankfully it did...

i will not be using this wipe on poly again.

as for being adventurous...
hahaha this is only the start......
now that im getting more comfortable with my tools, my work space, and my skills.... theres gonna be more stuff being built as i get more timber
(iv had a few rqusts too... but im not that comfortable yet lol)

+1 about wipe on poly.

It's nothing more than a stop gap.
I haven't used it and wouldn't dare but have seen on other builds its tendency to shrink back over 2 months and look second rate.

tru-oil or danish, nitro or 2 pack. That's the choice for results over time.

My fave is using nitro with a sealer coat of 2 pack to stop sinkback.
It works as good as epoxy but without the heartache.

besides im allmost finished my 7 string,,,,, then im starting my 8 string...
so unless you can machine and plate steel for me... im not letting you in my workshop
