Do you use the mallets ... or are they more decorative?
Funnily enough, I was just in the garage looking over what bits and pieces I have. There was the Rhoads body I started but put aside for a slightly different shape (bigger, with a 24 fret neck). I've also got a mix of bridges, pickups, etc ... but then I found a box with all black hardware including a T-O-M. So I'm toying with getting that build going and building my daughter a smaller V ... 25.5 scale but a slightly smaller body than we just did.
I've got an idea for the finish on it ... but if I told you about it I'd have to shoot you

i still have the first mallet i made years ago... and it was looking very sad,
so i gave it some sibblings
(that shows you how good pva is.... 5 years + smashing into things and it still hasnt come apart )
got any bass parts in that box? lol
got an email from the bridge/tuners bloke.....
apparently he sent them today....
apparently....
i reckon a 24" V sounds good (thats what prs is yea?)

Floody ... I just blew up a good front on picture from the net and made it up from there. I also used a bolt on neck but I shaped the heel and used neck ferrules to give it a bit of a neck-thru feel. The photocopy is still in the garage ... happy to send it to you if you want it?
It sounds like you've done what we did. The first body I cut out had no cutaway for access to the lower frets. Once I told son # 3 about that he insisted we scrap it and start again. So that's when I searched for the COB picture that I eventually used.
Andy B ... no bass parts ... just a lump of merbau that might become a bass one day.
Funnily enough, the first build I did for my daughter was going to be pink until she asked me what colour I was planning. She insisted on blue . But I still designed a pink heart graphic for it .

We've just hijacked Andy's thread!!
This is the image I used. Do a search in Google Images for Alexi ESP 600 and you'll get heaps of good images.

You can "resize the canvas" in most graphics packages but your best bet is to print it as large as you can and then enlarge it on a copier ... your brother's a printer I recall?

when you come to printing out, just print the neck/body section,,,, then measure (the print out) neck and see if its the standard width. If yes, then the rest of the image would be very close to scale also. Thats the basic way of going about it.

Hey i sort of put saw to wood today!!! I made a template! and it only took me 20 mins. i done it during work time so I had to be quick or my boss would of whinged. We have a really good Festo Jigsaw at work. Its no good to use. thats why I took advantage and done it at work. Plus the endless supply of mdf!!
oh my parents are giving me a bunnings voucher as an engagement present so I think im gonna get some new chisels, clamps and plane.
any progress today andy?

lol mdf doesnt count as wood
keep in mind clamps are pretty expensive... half your voucher will be gone before you get the 4th one in your trolley... lol
around 20-30bux each for decent ones
no real progress today,
i spent the day cleaning up the shed... theres a HUGE pile of woodchips and sawdust near the door waiting for me to dump it in the bin
thats what happens when you dont clean up regularly...
which reminds me, i need to empty my dust extraction bucket.
i actually started cleaning so i could get to my bench and do some more work on the V.... but by the time i finished putting away all my tools., i was just too worn out.. lol
did a bit more thinking about set neck or bolt on....
still havnt decided...
still need to finish the truss rod....
need to get started on the neck blank and fingerboard....
hopefully the bridge and machine heads will turn up tomorrow...
otherwise that makes it two weeks since i sent that money order and have recieved nothing...
ummm...
i very much doubt i will be able to use the tuners on this build, so that will set me back,
and i cant afford new ones....
so this build may be put on the shelf while i start on the 7 string....
i dunno,,
not in a great mood,
girlfriend lost her licence.
i will see if i can get a picture of all the wood and stuff that i have for the bass.
heres a pic,
and i just realised i forgot to put the truss rod in the pic ..lol
but you get the idea
