    Default Bad cutouts for neck and pickups on bass

    I'm fairly inexperienced with woodworking, but I still managed to make a body for a bass guitar, and it turned out pretty well, mostly. The cutouts for the pickups for the neck and the pickups are a bit disfigured and a bit too big, so the whole thing looks kinda rushed and stupid (first part may be true). I figured the best way to hide them was with plexi, but then I started drawing up some designs on photoshop, and found some that looked pretty cool, but didn't involve plexi. So I was wondering if I could somehow hide the fact that the cutouts are a bit off, other than with plexi.

    Could always use some thinner bits of timber as pickup surrounds and a sort of skirting around the neck pocket - fairly easy to do and would clean up the gaps nicely

    What shape body?

    If it's a traditional style you could use a pre made Pickguard and that'll cover them all and mount the pickups in that?

    The same happened to me with the pickup cavities on a bass I built, so I made some wood pickup cover/surrounds by routing out some ebony:
