Seaford, that sounds close enough. I guess I remember having to go through Mordialloc to get there.

I don't think Jim does much himself at all. I'm not even sure if he built a lot of guitars. The father of a mate of mine had one of his guitars several years ago. Beautiful neck-thru super-strat/frankenstrat (whatever u wanna call it) style, floyd rose etc... it didn't 'look' built for heavy metal though. The whole body as well as the neck was laminted. Must have been 20 sticks of timber in that guitar.

    I have a Martin D28 that's in it's 31st year and has developed a slight neck curve, haven't measured it but it's approx 1.5mm.

It has happened over the life of the guitar and I have asked a couple of questions on another forum which suggested that I should leave it as is.

However I have some residual problems after Carpal Tunnel operation operations on my hands and would like to put some lighter strings on and lower the action a little to make it a bit easier to play, as it is, with lighter strings I get a buzz.

I thought about getting a Luthier to have a look at it but cant find anyone experienced with rectifying curved necks who can/will supply references for past work, a few said "Yep no probs" but they didn't give me a lot of confidence.

C F Martin recommended someone on the East coast, I live on the West

    Any suggestions?
    Bille,

Harry Baker of "Fret Services" is your man, he's up just behind the hills of Perth in a little place called Karagullen off the Brookton Hwy. Harry has been repairing and building guitars for many years and works exclusively on acoustics.

Your only problem may be getting him when he's not busy as he tells me he has at least 2 month of work in front of him ATM. Anyhow give him a call on (08)93975952. If you need it done now and can't wait for Harry, give him a call anyway and he will probably take a quick look and set you straight on what needs doing so you don't end up letting some BS artist at it to stuffs things up for you.

    Cheers

    Kim

Thanks for that I had been given his name and number some time ago by a customer and had misplaced it, I was told at the time that he had some Martin experience.

I have a mate lives at Armadale so I'll give Harry a call to see if he can spare me some time next time I go visit my mate.
