Glad you guys are getting something out of the pics. Sharing is good !!!!!
I grain-matched a makore cover for the back. This cover was from a separate board and cut to match in as close as I could to the body's grain orientation.

Thanks Andrew and Mick.
And a big welcome to this forum, Mick B.
It's great to have another AGGH'er onboard and with your expanse of knowledge with all things 'wound', you'll be an integral part of the gang here, too.
(Got to get me some of your Brierley pickups soon ,Mick !!!!)
This one's ready for a bit of a sand and a spray.
And finally got confirmation of the carve top colour, too. Nothing radical, but it's what the owner likes and wants, which is what it's all about..

Stu, that is something else. Is the top stained at all? or is it just tinted clear coats?
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks fellas.
I didn't put the toner coat on, the new owner had the last say and likes it how it is. Fair enough I say.
The abbreviated process with this one was using LMII alcohol soluble powdered dyes used as a stain.
First pass of stain was as a straight red wiped on with a rag, then wiped the excess off.
Second pass was with a mix of Red black and blue , to a burgundy colour and do the same process again, wipe on and wipe off. wait half an hour.
Then one coat of clear. Wait an hour.
Now for the toner coat for the burst. I used a weak mix of black dye into the clear, giving one coat around the perimeter to cause the burst look, then I gave one complete coat over everything to darken the whole lot up a fraction.
After that I locked it all in with clear and nothing else. That's all.
Now a few progress pics.
The outside pics look nuts !!!

man that is sweet! I would love to see the owners face when he sees that in the flesh for the first time!
