Hey bassbuilderman, we haven't had the heart to tell you that Stu is actually a figment of the Forum's collective imagination.
But as imaginary friends go, you really picked a good one.
Gee, i suspect that it will be the most UN-tele like sound that you could get. By the routes I assume its single coils. But the neck-thru and the headstock relief...
smooth, smooth smooth...Cheers!Mongrel

Hi Mongrel,
Nah, its 2 humbuckers for me Seymours Sh2 neck and JB4 bridge.
I;m looking forward to hearing it too.
I was after some acoustic volume. NOthing sounds worse than an unplugged electric.
But I am hoping for an instrument that will cover a lot of tones.
Sounds like some people have 'left handers envy'
Mmmmm

Hey, Andrew's a Golden member.
From Austin Powers ??? Show us your golden staff !!!
The f/board was epoxied on so I wasn't adding excess moisture into the neck, and therefore able to get stuck into carving quickly..
If I use titebond with fretboards, I'll let them sit a few week or two while the added moisture equalises before carving the neck.

Hey Stu,
Looks like no-one picked up on the Toneport (Trade Mark pending).
Also known as the Plectrum Recovery Module.
The Chinese knockoff manufacturers will be on to this in no time.

Good lookin' timber and a solid build
As a HUGE fan of the versatile Tele, we gotta say that this piece looks like it is coming along quite nicely. LP controls - you gonna use push/pull pots to handle splitting Seymour's pickups?
As for the waste created in hogging out a "Tele-Lite", seen 'em done both ways - bent sides and routing out the chambers and find routing to be easier and more economical in the long run when one factors in the cost of one's time - just an observation.
One binding solve that was shared with us by an iconic builder is to rout a 3/16" wide, binding-deep channel just a bit proud of the finished dimension into your blank and fill it with black or cream colored epoxy. When set, one can then cut out the body and finish rout with a straight-cut bit and you have your binding dialed.
Do you have an idea of the finished weight?
Will you post pics when done?
Impressive build, truly. We righties would hafta go the the Albert King School for a minute to play this beaut.
Best,

He He.
Fun for hours trying to retrieve your plectrum whilst it darts from one hollowed section to the other.
You do realise this is now your problem, Michael . Not that funny now eh.
Fretboard stuff now.

cheers for the comments. Michael's gone for straight les paul wiring with a treble bleed on the volume pots. That's all.
Thanks for your insight with routouts and bent side builds.
Finished weight hasn't been checked yet until all assembled. What's a set of strings weigh?

You need a small air pump inside to keep the interior at positive pressure to keep the plectrum out.
Looks like Stu's spent a bit of quality time at carbatec, judging by the lineup of tools. Would the epoxy give any kind of structural change opposed to titebond? Obviously it shrinks less, and there is that old luthier favourite creep (or is it that old creep the luthier) It would be interesting to test the flex on a neck epoxied v's titebonded.
blah blah great work yaddah yaddah I've said it all before.
Build something crappy so we can knock it for a changeCheers!Mongrel
