you could make up a jig and angle the whole top.... so the pickups follow the neck/string line....
and leave the bridge secction flat and do some crafty carving....
hmmm now i have more ideas

    as for sawing that wood....
    im feeling it now...
arms feel like dead weights lol..
and todays saws SUCK!.... should go get my old ones resharpened (when i win loto )

and the better way.... is to find a person with a big bandsaw and make friends with him
Yes you did thanx but I wasn't sure about the body, and what are your ideas?

    Default LP neck angle

Can anybody advise me as the correct neck angle for a Les Paul, as all the info I have found seems to have varying opinions ranging from 2 deg to 13 deg, 3 different sets of plans, 3 different angles,
    regards

In the end the actual degree of neck angle is of no consequence.
Build it to suit your body, fretboard end and your bridge location and that's the magic number.

If you manually draw it out it becomes clear as .........something fairly translucent.
I've got plans I can send pics. of but really you've got to work to your own build dimensions.

thanx Stu I appreciate your response , and I will accept anything anyone can send me, that way I'm able to sort out stuff that's relevant to me. I;m not just trying to build a LP, I'm trying to replicate it as authentically as I can. Another question if I may, what's the secret to getting the bow out of, and square dressing the two halves of the body so that it can be glued on straight? Ive just spent two days r!!!ting around before glueing it all together and still ended up with a bit of a bow that I'll have to dress up with my router and jig.

    Kind regards

    Wal

Sounds like you need to visit the Les Paul Forum.

    Default Puting saw to wood

Hey guys I thought I'd post some pics of my snail’s pace progress, keeping in mind that I do have other stuff to do and keeping the Mrs off my back is such a chore.
I made a rough jig for my router to surface the body blank, over all it was out about one mm so no complaints with that. I'll make a better one when I get time. I managed to obtain some discarded tasy oak from a local furniture builder, and added some red gum to make up the width. I also decided to veneer with red gum so I'm currently scrounging for a nice piece for the top. Any criticism before I start cutting will be most welcome.
    regards

Getting the top ready for the body, I took a leaf out of Andrew's book LOL!!!, red gum is really hard stuff, but I reckon it's gonna look alright.

Default Slowly progressing as I proceed.

Hi all avid thread onlookers and contributors, I though I'd post some more pics to show I haven't been loafing.

I had to insert a bit of pvc pipe into the switch chamber and rapped some tape around the router bit bearing to achieve the correct cover plate cavity diameter.

I used my home made router jig to rout out the wiring cavity.

I think I'm ready to glue the top on before routing the neck and pickup pockets. Any advice that can be offered before I start gluing would be greatly appreciated.

    Kindest regards to all

    Wal

Is guitar building addictive? because I have this feeling this won't be my last and only build.
