Nope, why would I do that. Whats wrong with humbuckers? I figure to just leave it as is...unless I can have a compelling reason to do otherwise.

Nothing like a new axe to give you motivation to practise. Its great being old enough to afford the toys you want isnt it? Enjoy

That is a nice guitar. I always liked the look of those studio plus models but they always had "shop wear" because they weren't the LP Standard kept away from prying kiddy fingers.

Oh my comment about the pickups was because the LP I bought my brother was terrific but tried to find one for myself and couldn't find one that sounded anywhere near as good. The pickups (amoung other things) can be so inconsistent between guitars and often changing them out produces a far better sound.

This one is absolutely pristine. It was hung in the shop with a 'do not touch sign' for 3 weeks before I decided I had to have it. I asked the owner of the shop to plug it into an Orange valve amp and play me some stuff - Jazz, Rock and Grunge. Man, it sounded lovely and fat and grungey and sharp and and and....oooohhhh baby....anyway I'm handing it over to a very good Luthier to 'set it up' for me. I'm putting 10-46 strings on it. I tossed up between this and a Black LP Standard but this one felt like mine when I picked it up...if you know what I mean.
