Yeh those funny little Chinese clamps werent much chop for mitres, im glad they came to good for use after 15 years of storage. I almost though them out numerous times.
Walked around the shed a couple of arvos looking around for clamps. Still a few hidden somewhere. I may have to invest in some. I just scraped home.

Put some nitro on Tele thing.
I masked up the rout holes to get maximum tone out of the wood directly. I reckon it makes a difference to how woody the tone gets bouncing around behind the pickups.

I went to the timber yard on Monday and stocked up on Rock Maple and Mahogany, prices were good so ive ended up with enough wood for 5 necks and 4 bodies. Just on the search for tops now.
Still waiting for parts and theres not much more i can do. So, may as well get some more carving practice. This one Rock Maple and Blackwood.
Found another use for the mitre clamps. snapped them in half, now i have double.

The router thing makes a nice flat surface.

That is looking great!
I must admit that I rather liked the joins and woodgrain though.
Congrats!

Yeh post up some pics Andrew, my inspiration for making stuff comes because i see others posting pictures. My next side project is going to be a fret saw box. Its probably going to be a Stew Mac based type one. Ive been looking around but its a little hard to find anything decent. Do you know of any links or pictures? Ive got a basic idea of what i want but you can never have too much info.
Thanks Ckngumbo, the sides i was going to stain a dark brown so the end grains were a little hard to see but after putting the binding on i think im just going to clear it. Ive come attached to its appearance.
I put some 1.4mm Rock Maple binding on the guitar this evening, gee, wasnt that a pain in the butt. I dont really want to work with stuff that thin again. Bent the maple with a heat gun and with the heavy corners i applied water first, worked out fine, to my amazement. The first couple i tried snapped without the water.
Tuners and bridge turned up today so that means a quick setup so i can find out the real depth for the neck pocket. I was a bit worried about routing it out without the bridge just in case i took too much out but at a quick assessment it looks like i only have to rout out another 5mm, choice!
More soon.

Glued the Mahogany together on Sunday and drew up a new shape. I was going to go for the double cutaway but this shape sort of has it in there with a little extra. What do you think?

Taken me a while to post up the pics.98% finished, been too busy playing it.
Totally inspired by Old Pickers Lucky
It surprisingly plays really well. A nice weight also. Skimped out on the paint, about 5 coats nitro, but its fine.
Got some more of my other build, ill just sort it out.

Thanks Floody, it was a bit of a neglected build, but still managed to get things pretty much right.
I spent most of my time on this thing.
I changed my mind 100 times on this one from the neck, top, pickups, bridge and color. It was supposed to be tobacco and got talked into blue, oh well.
It has a nice feel, plays and sounds unreal. Didnt like the warmth of the pickups (unknown) with the covers on so i took them off, gained a stack of volume and some nice crispness.
Ive never owned a guitar with gold hardware so it had to be.
Only a few coats on this one, i was only after some building experience basicly so ill concentrate a bit more on the #3 build.
3.5k in weight and more work than what i bargained for, had heaps of fun.
