Thanks Boys. Go on Youtube if you get a chance and take a peak at Floyd live from Berlin when The Wall came down. Doing The Wall at The Wall - Awesome gig.
Im in two minds about the Humbucker in the Bridge now - I found a bargain Bridge with Vintage pickup for a great price on The Bay - I guess I can use the other Bridge on the 72 Deluxe I will probably build next.

Coming along nicely Manny How much weight reduction did you get ?
-

Thanks Fletch and Bob.
By planing to 26 mm, final routing and chambering I slashed 1.2kg off the original weight when it was 50mm thick blanks glued up. It nicely blanced now and the cap will bring the thickness back to 40mm and add about 200grams to it.....the weight is more than comfortable now for my boy.
Here is the chambered body sanded. Sanded and checked and she's flat and ready for the cap to glue on.

Im happy with the chambers and the body thus far, so today we put aside the body for a whlie and start on the neck. If you can recall this is my second neck after I tore the first one a new bum. Im happy to report that the second neck was roughed out and routed OK.
Still need to sand the edges straight but Ill do that after the fingerboard is glued on.
Just realised I havent started that one either.....I know...patience!
I made a slight modification to the headstock design.
Time to try that new Drill Press. Drilled the tuner holes.
And from the rear.....
Now it was time to start shaping that headstock and thinning it out. I made a mistake in that I cut the base line of the headstock a little deeper than I thought and it made the pegboard a little deep from where the nut is going. But i think I can save it as I was going to glue a veneer on the headstock to match the body....I can still do it but now I may use a veneer on a thin laminate to bring the height up again, and re-shape. Also forgot to drill the truss rod access hole. Will do sooner than later.
I thought Id test the thickness by fitingt the tuners. Fits OK.
Tomorrow Ill try and finish the headstock, start on the fret board and then build up to shaping the back of the neck and heel...eventually.
Cheers.

More Goodies arrived today. The Bridge Humbucker and some ferrules.
Then it was on to sanding teh headstock and preparing to laminate it. ive selected a piece that matches the cedar veneer on the body cap.
A bit more sanding and glue up.
And whilst that sits for a day or 4, I start playing with fret boards.
I will make 2 as Im undecided which to use. Id like some opinions please fellas.
The light is a cypress. The darker with that distinct yellowish tinge is Merbau. They are both about 8mm and Im going for a 15 inch radius on each.
Thats it for today fellas. let me know yor thoughts on the fret boards, and also if you think the thickness is adequate, given Ill be sanding a couple of mm off with radius block and finishing.
Cheers
Manny
