less talk, more build
did you end up getting one of those steel fretboard gaurds?

tung oil is good... i tried the satin one from bunnings and didnt like that one so much...
the gloss can be made to look like satin if need be, feels better too

yea thats where i saw the feast watson one. Wat brand are u using?
I bought some ratchet straps but they have the stupid big hooks on them.. How did u get around that? Cut them off? I was gonna cut both hooks off then just attach the long strap to the ratchet and just use that

hmm i dont remember the brand, ill let you know next time im out in the workshop
i smashed a cold chisel into the gap in the hook untill it was big enough to slide the strap out, you wil have to burn or cut the rubber off first...
i suppose you could attack it with a grinding wheel on a dremel or angle grinder lol...
alternatively you could just make a piece that fits over the hook and screw it on the bottom of your neckjig....
you do have access to a cnc you know...

I use one of those telescopic pic-up tools with a magnet on the end, its supposed to be used for getting metal things that have fallen in hard to get at places (when your least expecting it to It's pretty easy to pinch off the steel wool.

I can't believe how easy you guys make this look! I have been sitting here looking at these threads for hours. Little football.......little reading......little beer......(then more beer) annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd repeat!
I am really enjoying seeing all of these guitars come to life. I have 3 guitars and believe me when I tell you that my playing doesn't justify it. I am still always looking for another. That normal?
Sorry for the mini hijack......Well done on the build.
Scott

Ive put this RG on the backburner for awhile til I can get this PRS done for my brother..Thought id share some pics of it...Its coming along nicely so far..
Mahogany body wit Flame maple top
Mahogany neck with Bocote fingerboard
Wilkinson tuners
Zebra Humbuckers
Cut the the mahogany and maple
Some of the hardware
Fingerboard with matching binding
My assistant.,named Ibanez hahaha,,im obsessed lol
Top glued down and inlays done
Made a template to match the PRS control cavity and routed that too..I also routed the wiring channel before i glued the top down
And thats where im at now..
Just gotta do the input socket and rout the pocket and pups to final depth and add the binding..Then carve and fret the neck..Its gonna have a red dye over the whole thing and finished in a clear gloss
