I like the enthusiasm.
The dye can be wiped on but they recommend brushing as cloth or rag absorbs too much of it when wiping.. Ill try both I think seems I have 2 guitars to do..

Those ibanez inlays are rather...... err.......pedestrian. Not metal enough.

ill still wipe on my dyes thought, rather than risk dirty brushes and loose/stray bristles
all production inlays nw bore me....
shark tooth, dots, etc etc

i'm very proud of my Gat and am amazingly impressed by Stu's quality of workmanship and attention to detail.
Love your build threads too man. So many great craftsmen and women on this forum, a pleasure to peruse these posts. inspiration aplenty.
