Default My First Build a Weissenborn

G'Day Andrew, Still working on idea for bridge and fret board.
Dont know if I will go with blackwood or bull Oak, father of She Oak.
Trying to learn as much as possible before I start. I have been checking out a lot of different shapes, hour glass shape I like.
If I get the chance I will post photos soon of some of the timber I will use.
    Cheers Bob

Default My First Build a Weissenborn

I am following my own advice here & not rushing my first build.
I keep doing more research & coming up with new idea.
I was checking out Bill Asher website Electric Lap Steel, trying to work out the pros & cons of building a Weissenborn Acoustic or electric Lap steel.
Any suggestions most welcome from anyone in this forum thats ever built a Wessenborn Acoustic or Lap steel guitar.
I was hoping to resaw figured blackwood billets this week, but never stops raining down here in tassie for months upon months and this has put be behind on working orders so its slowing down my build.
But I will get there soon.
    Regards Bob

    bugger about the rain....
but atleast its not raining dust out there....
the cars over here look like they are covered in blood splatter

build what you would like to play
im sure if you build the wessenborn thingy... you will get hooked, and end up building a lapsteel

Your most probably right there Andy with your comments below.
As I was going through my stock today, I found more stock I forgot I had, 2 book matched boards fiddleback compression blackwood each board 950mm long 500 mm wide x 70 mm thickness fully quarter sawn, boards of this quality are 1 in a billion.
So who knows I might build, Acoustic Weissenborn, plus a lapsteel and if I get hooked on building, an Electric guitar plus an Acoustic guitar the Sky's the limit.
    Cheers Bob
