New builds OOO's 12 fret to the neck
"Practice on scrap"
I have a friend on Canada that is a world class plane maker. He has just recently made a pair of stunning Les Paul replicas. He made two just incase something went wrong. It didn't and they appear amazing. He is planing his first acoustic build in the next year or so. Using some of the most amazing old growth Brazilian you have ever seen.
He is the fellow that provided the amazing Camatillo I'm using for this build. It was cut up from a very old shelf found in an old store many years ago.
I'm hoping to get just a handful of magic back and side sets from his stock pile of instrument grade rosewoods. He has more than he could use in two life times. )

New builds OOO's 12 fret to the neck
Still on a go slow. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1408982787.684355.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1408982848.756196.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1408983073.741733.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1408983120.396361.jpg
It was interesting to see just how many lumps and bumps formed in the bending process. Most taken out with the linisher the rest will be sanded by hand. The machining for the purfling on the top and back has been completed.
Slow and steady is the plan.

Added the trenches for the side binding and purfling.

Also put in the Blackwood wedge.
Still slow but steady.

Lol.
I'll get back to it presently. I've had to put in some serious daddy time for the last 5 months as I over did the other work type commitments last year. I finished conducting a musical in the first week of September and was totally spent. The last few months I've been recovering and spending more time with the kids after school instead of dragging them to rehearsals and up to Cockatoo to build guitars. I'll get back to finish them off in the next few months. I did say that they were going to be slow builds. Time is still the limiting factor. I do need to finish them soon though as they are both promised to people.
Thanks for the gentle reminder though.
Cheers
Kevin
