Default Carving Craving Dragon Skin SG

Ok, so I was showing someone a few of my guitars that i'd made, and he was pretty keen on an SG i'd done in a green stain. He seemed like he was about to commit to the sale, but then we got talking a little more.
One subject led to another and we ended up out in the workshop. So there I am pulling out pickups and odd bits and pieces and I then made the foolish mistake of pulling out a carved body ive been working on for my own personal thrashing machine. You know, that guitar you love dearly, but its primary role is to be dragged from pillar to post and take all the crap you dish out to it, with minimal worry.
Anyway, when he seen it, his eyes lit up and I could see the gears ticking away in his head,,,,,,, "Could you do that carving on the green SG"?

Dont ya just hate hacking into a finish youve spent ages trying to get as perfect as you can? So I said "Sure"
And here's how it came up.

Its a generic body and neck, but ive reshaped it slightly, opening up the cutaways for better access, reseating the neck a little better and ive laminated the face with some flame maple and a strip of birdseye maple up the center.

It has a really nice set of original Full Shred - Seymour Duncan pickups and i've copper lined the cavities, but I think he's looking at putting some EMG's in.

Being that I didnt personally make the body or neck (only customized it) I used a white decal in the headstock instead of pearl.
Over all, it plays great and sounds groovey,,,,,, very loose n bendy. Soft but fast if you get what im saying

I have however had to get a new foot pedal so I can let people plug in and test the guitars theyre interested in. My last FX pedal, a basic Zoom 606 started doing funky things "wah wah, wakka wakka FZZZZZZZZZ bading bading WHIRRRRRR - POP!!!
So I lashed out and got a Boss ME-70
Now all I have to do is work out how to use it.

    Hey oz,

That carving is seriously cool. I like it how the dye highlights the ribbing. Very rock and roll guitar

Hey all, im glad you like it Im pretty partial to it myself.
The green does look pretty cool. Sounds a real treat too.
I "should" do a bit of a vid and upload it to Youtube, but I wont make any promises just yet. A lot going on in the rest of my life atm, but I should have the chance to do it soon-ish.
Sorry I havent been so active here lately. I'll do my best to get some more builds going asap.

Im also trying to work out a standard carve for one of my designs now, so when I finally work out what carve suits what design best, i'll get into another build and post the progress.

Thanks for the kind words folks

I think I would call that the Jade guitar, it's a real gem. I feel like I'm wearing 3-d glasses when looking at the photos, you really did an excellent job of making the grain pop out.Mike

the amp i use for people to demo guitars has 3 knobs volume bright volume dark and tone
it is a very very nice amp and only makes golden sounds - when its turned up loud the tone generated is awe inspiring

more time focussing on the actual tone the guitar generates - less time fiddling around trying to duplicate the funny noises they make with their own amps
