yea i have some sutton ones cos we use them at work so i pinched some lol.. the finer ones are better and cleaner arent they. any ideas on bandsaw blades? the one that came with it is crap so im gonna get a new one. someone told me the more teeth per inch, the quicker it clogs up so i should try get 2 or 3 tpi for good cuts on thick wood

you dont want to use fine blades on hard wood, you want coarse blades.....
think of it like, sawing an edge off your body blank with a hacksaw VS. a rip saw....
which one will do a better job?
now....
im still feeling crook...
but i managed to do another all day-er in the shed lol...
i made up a jig kinda thingy to drill straight holes for pickup flatwork lol
test
tassie oak, pressing pole pieces into the flatwork with my drill press
one finished
and then i wrapped some tape around the pole pieces and dipped them in.......... something.... lol
lol
i really need to build a proper winder...
now... back to the guitar lol...
i had a go at it with the router again and it just didnt want to work....
the wood is realy crappy... stringy and wierd grain....
oh well... will be painted lol
i got bored and grabbed a marker,
i decided to draw a random bevel on the top...
and draw a random tummy cut design on the back
(and i decided to do a leg cut.... andrew style! haha)
by now it was 11pm and i was getting lazy....
so heres pics...
(my secret offcut trick in action....)

would you like to see the front?
lol
here you go....
actually., i shall start by saying... the last thing i did before i packed up lastight....
i modified an old grinder and an old orbital disk and came up with a pretty crazy bevel carving tool..... (running the drill press at like 1am is actually realy loud lol)
it takes wood of in mili seconds.... lol
was fun....
thats it for the rough work.....
it will all be cleaned up later when the neck is on (so i can bring the bevels right up to the neck)
i also realised i can use my new grinder+sander= grander? lol i can use it to get al thos edges straigth (i ended up doing them by hand)
up up and awayyy

My Stuff So Far, So Good
I started on the neck today and thought i'd put the pics up.
First up is the basic roughing out of the general shape
I used the saw bench to step out the neck thickness/drop away.
A clearer look at the saw bench work
Here it is partly cleaned up.
A little shaping and its starting to look like something usable,,,, almost
So thats what ive been up to today. That and a few other little bits and pieces.
I might have a go at the fretboard tomorrow,,, or shape the body, or do more of the neck.

thats alot of work for a neck aussie....
i thought you had a band saw? lol
im still not welll...
so i sat around and did this..
winding station lolol
done
you can see my newest wierd homemade tool here..... its just a drill chuck attatched to an old brass screwdriver knob lol.... i have trouble with my tiny drill bits snapping when i leave them in the battery drills.... ( drills like to fall and snap bits...)
so this is an alternative i came up with... only takes 4 or 5 twists to get through a 5mm bit of wood ...
thats all

Are you kidding?,, it would be all wobbly and totally crap looking to try and cut a straight line near on a meter long. Not to mention theres a truss rod slot im trying to avoid in the proccess. Stepping the slope on the saw bench is much cleaner, precise and easier for me thanks.
