Anyone interested to do a custom part build?
Hi guys, Ive been perusing the forum on and off during the construction of my first guitar. It ended up a write off, my fault obviously. Anyway, wondering if anyone were up to make a neck and body for me.. I don't have the confidence to give it another crack just yet. I'm happy to bind and finish etc. It'll be a neck-thru LPDC no carve, 25.6 or 26" with single action rod. Any takers? Would love to discuss this with potential makers

If you get someone else to make the neck and body that doesn't leave much for you to do does it?
I wouldn't let the failure of your first build put you off building.....I could give you a huge list of major stuff ups I've made on my first build acoustics.....there are two write off acoustics sitting on my wood shelves.
Anyway time to "get back on the horse" mate and master riding of same.

Thanks for the replies. After posting this thread I couldn't find it anywhere on the forum. I was happy to spend the time on the last build, but not so much now as i've got another job. I really just the resawing, jointing, thicknessing and maybe body cut out. I'm happy to do the rest myself. Last build i did everything by hand but now have no time and am reluctant to but the aforementioned gear. I'll PM you woodturner 777 with details. Thanks

better off buying a kit - you can get set neck lp and explorers etc - not that expensive
you can buy a neck through from stewmac
custom built by a maker will cost long moneyray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Thought about the kits, but the reason I have to go custom. I'm a classical guitarist who finds electrics too cramped for both hands. I'm going for a 48mm nut width and a vintage spread at the bridge, amongst other things. The pic is of my first attempt before i wrecked it

After routing the control cavity, I got all ambitious and decided to flush trim the neck binding with the router. I ended up cutting a big semicircle into the FB and neck. It's funny now but nearly made me cry then. The next one will be much better and hopefully survive gestation

Any chance of seeing the accidental "semi circle" route out?
How deep is it into the actual neck / beneath the fretboard is the damage?
If the fretboard could be lifted, you may be able to laminate a plug in the neck "chop out", make a new fretboard and your back in business
If the laminate is still visable, you could concider staining the back of the neck black,,,, with matching cavity cover/s, pickups and dials.
Just a thought.
