Custom guitar Painting
Thought I would post some pictures of what I am doing if anyone is interested.
Just some background on this. Back in April I made some enquires about getting a guitar painted with some graphics etc. I could find only one guy doing this, he is in Melbourne, and he specializes in custom guitar painting. (There are ones who do restoration work, but not custom paintwork). I could not find anyone else, in Sydney or anywhere else that specializes in custom guitar painting. I did a survey, and rang 12 music/guitar shops around Sydney, and not one of them knew of anyone doing custom paintwork for guitars, they all suggested I go to someone who paints cars and does airbrush work etc.
I did some airbrushing about 15 years ago, so I have decided to give it a go and start painting guitars.
I took a week off in September and did an advanced airbrush course, bought all new gear and set myself up in a corner of the garage. I don’t know if there will be much demand for it or not, but time will tell. I have a lot of requests to do work on bikes, helmets, and a couple of cars, but I want to concentrate on guitars.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Here are a couple of pics of a strat I started on the weekend

Did a few murals on panelvans back in the day, havent done much since.
I love the mechanical themes
Id like to see a completed guitar to get an overall feel of the graphics
Do you plan to post any pics?
Looking good so far

When I looked at the first pics I thought that this was going to look awful. I was dramatically wrong and I am now filled with envy at OPs artistic talent.
Well done.

New business maybe?? I also want to get one I'm building painted. Thinking of blue but want it painted to look like its wrapped in barbed wire. Not sure id just the body or maybe put a few strands up the neck. I did find this guy, jabairbrushing.com | He's in melbourne. Another one is a guy who puts cards at my Motorbike shop, The honda dealer in ferntree gully. I didn't grab one then but can always go back for one.

I have done a couple of others, at the moment i am trying to get a portfolio together, of pictures, effects and the different sort of things i can do.
There are plenty of airbrush artists around, but only one, in Melb, who specializes in Guitars. I have some good things in the pipeline, and will keep you all updated.
Heres a couple of bits i have done in the last couple of months.

Your work is incredible, you should be pleased, just out of interest, do you do many commercial jobs?
I have never done anything with air-brushing, however we have a spray booth at work when we 2-pac kitchens, is getting a run while air-brushing a worry, or does it just not happen?
Regards,
Dave..

Never gt runs, the paint is too thin, and almost dries once it touchs the surface.
You certainly can get runs in the clear though.
