I was told you need to get a sparky in to run an extra cable to use 3 phase gear, dont remember any more of that conversation though.... lol

Im pretty sure for 3 phase you have to upgrade your power system?? Prob more trouble and cost than its worth for a bandsaw

You are spot on there Floody, not cheap to upgrade to 3 phase.
For the money you would pay, you could buy a top of the range Bandsaw.

    Thanks Andy B

The only viable one though is the 9" model ... the others have finished or are too far away ... except for the 3 phase which we've also established is not viable ... thanks guys.

But I'd have thought a 9" is a bit small?

dadovfor don't forget most guitar bodys are only between 380 mm and 400 wide.
This is between 15 1/2 and 16 inch wide to allow room for horns body shaping Etc.
So to give you an idea 2 peices 200mm 8 inch wide book matched will give you, your guitar body blank so if you have a good brand bandsaw that you can safely cut 8 inch wide boards with a little bit of spare room, it will do just fine for a small time builder.
    Cheers,Bob

Thanks for that Bob ... while it sounds like it could be made to work, something bigger seems a better option.

I bought a Harte and Forbes model and couldn't be happier. Ripping uses less wood and the 2 hp will cut through anything. There is so much you can do with a bandsaw, just Google bandsawn boxes.
It could be the best machine you bought, ahh yeah I love my thicknesser also...
