Default Flame, Quilt and Curly Maple

Flame, Quilt, Curly, and Spalted too!!

I sorted out my maple stash last week, and worked out what i need, and what i dont. Ive got a couple year waiting list, and all those clients have timber reserved, plus i have enough unreserved maple to please any new clients that sign on.

I figured i may as well let some of this timber go to a new home, because i know how hard it is to source in Australia, and quite frankly, i dont see myself needing any more maple for at least four years. I know i'll regret saying that!

Its all dry, and ready to use. Its all been stickered, waxed/latex ends, and wrapped in plastic film to prevent stress from sudden climate change. Both faces of each board are sanded. All boards were considered dry prior to bookmatching. You will need to machine/plane the bookmatch join.

Sold a fair few sets, so I've added a bunch more. No more quilt tops have been added, but heaps more flame, and some nice spalt too.

Check out the bulk special pricing for those that have WAS (Wood Acquisition Syndrome)

Does anyone need flame maple fretboard blanks? Wenge perhaps? Let me know...

With that spalting, you can bet I've suddenly got another attack of the W.A.S

Quartered for the maple, yes, and there is some flat and rift sawn also. Wenge, I havent checked yet.

As for price, well it all depends on how many people want them. Maybe $20 each? Not pre-slotted or radiused of course.

    Hi Perry, welcome back!

Some damn nice tops there (all the nicest ones are taken already of course).

I don't suppose you have an overstock of neck blanks too by any chance?

Also, how'd it go at the show in Syd? Havn't seen a post from you since then.

From 46 onwards, the pics dont represent the actual figuring as well as they are in reality... different lighting i guess.

What are you after re: neck stock? I have some stuff that is for sale, but not advertised.

The show in Sydney was a bit of a waste of time really, but i got to meet a bunch of guys who had been discussing ideas and designs with me, so in the end that made it worth it. Meeting my clients makes it much easier to build their guitars, and get a vibe for what they are like. Networked a bit and looks like I might have someone to organise the next delivery trip in the USA, so thats cool.
A couple stores have asked to take on my stuff after seeing some work (a couple of the employees ordered guitars too), but i dont think it will work out... I'd rather keep on going as i have been for now. Im too busy with custom orders to be doing shop stock as well. Maybe next year we'll go down that path.

I'm after some maple and wallnut suitable for a laminated neck-thru, but I'm thinking about getting some plain maple blanks as well for other projects. I will probably want them long enough for neck-thru also.

That's a bummer about the show, but at least it wasn't completely wasted with a few orders to fuel the sky rocket, and new contacts.

I can understand about the store orders and time constraints. Plus I'm sure its more rewarding building a one off for an individual, rather than something a little more generic (although surely pretty unique in itself anyway). It's still not as personal.

I have another question for you. Hows that metal monster guitar you where building. You posted some pics on the PG forum. The one with lightening strikes and flaming inverted cross inlays. Can't wait to see that one finished. I also posted a reply to that thread at PG. Please update us

    Cheers, DJ!

I worked on that one again today, bevels cut, controls and pickups, bridge located. Didnt have the camera handy, so no new pics

It will be ready for paint next week, but once again another rush job so the owner can record with it...
