    Default Free Stuff for a budding luthier

    Hi Guys, I don't post often, but when I have, I've received nothing but great advice & generosity, so now it's time to pay it forward. (Looking at you, Trong, thanks once more).
    I have a variety of jigs, bibs & bobs to give away to a keen beginner in acoustic luthiery. I have no further use for them, as I am concentrating on solid body electric guitars now. They are as follows

    a Spanish Solera with adjustable cork-lined blocks
    a variety of templates for bodies, braces & necks
    a 2-part external mould
    spool clamps & support blocks
    a large-diameter steel pipe for side bending when heated
    stainless steel sprung pegs for binding/ purfling/attaching linings
    a 12mm plywood insulated steam box, long enough for sides, complete with a wallpaper steamer "kettle" & long hose
    full-size plans for a "Fox"-style side bending jig plus lead screw, HD springs & eye plates
    a fully-assembled LMI/Robbie O'Brien neck joint jig, with router templates for dovetail or straight mortise & tenon.
    2 very comprehensive acoustic guitar building books, with full full-size plans, by Alex Willis & Jonathan Kinkead (both British luthiers)

    "Buyer" collects from my place on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. I believe forum rules require you to communicate via this thread, prior to sending a PM. Please respect my wish that this gear goes to someone starting out in this great craft, who's maybe a bit short on cash, but long on enthusiasm.

    Hello Gezdog,

    Thank you for this generous offer. I am starting out in luthier, have made one acoustic under expert guidance, and starting on another.

    Per forum rules, I believe I am required to say "I'll take it"

    I'll take it

    - The Robbie O'Brien / LMI neck joint jig and templates
    - Spool clamps and support blocks.

    I would love some of the other stuff (Solera with cork blocks and the plans and parts for Fox side-bending jig) but I probably should not be too greedy and abuse your offer.

    What would be next steps?

    I think if OP is ok with it, take everything, esp the solera, patterns and bendy pipe.

    You never know how your journey progresses. Someone has already taken the time to gather some good resources, so why reinvent that wheel?

    It feels greedy, but I've often given away collections to budding newbies. If they are boosted up by it, then the world has improved.

    If one doesn't find the gift useful, then regift it onwards.

    Btw, those books would be mighty good, but the terms were collection 😭😭😭
