Default Glue to repair an acoustic guitar?

    G'day.

I'll get the camera inside & take a pic & post it later.

I have a hollow forming about the sound hole & I took the strings off & stuck my hand inside.
The strut(?) one of the X cross pieces on the inside of the front as let go at one end.

I want to squeeze/wipe some glue in under it & clamp it so it doesn't keep getting worse.

I have a few different glues for boat building.... West system epoxy, Aquadere aquabond which is a urethane, a couple of different sorts of PVA & a little bit of yellow glue.

    What do you reckon?

Cliff when we build guitars, we usually use hide glue for everything, however for the problem you describe yellow glue will be fine. Grab yourself a couple of clamps as well to squeeze them together

Ta, I have plenty of clamps.

I'll sort out a couple of pads to go under the clamps.

A few pics taken with the digital camera set to macro inside the guitar.

I have marked where the glue has let go with a red ring.

Not quite correct. I think youll find a majority of guitar builders are using a modified PVA glue such as Titebond. Some of us are using hide glue but were definitely not in the majority.

Cliff, youre going to have a job working glue into those cracks...theyre really tight. If you cant open the cracks up a bit to work in some Titebond (I) or hide glue (Titebond easier to work with) into the cracks then try CA injected with a syringe.

    Ta.

I scraped away as much of the old stuff as I could with a box cutter blade & used Salinga (sp) Yellow glue & wiped it in with an ear bud.

I had pre made some hi density foam pads & wrapped them in glad wrap for the inside & on the outside I used a block of pine wrapped in a piece of cotton rag.

As soon as I had the glue in there, I bugged the pad on top & clamped it.

I haven't removed the clamps yet to see what happened, I'll do that later today.

I would be putting a small support block under the end of that brace too.
Most makers now recognize that end of the X brace as being vulnurable and house it into the lining strip.
