Wow, I cant believe its been almost a year since ive last worked on this guitar or any for that matter. Ive spent a bit of time lately just nutting a few things out, so im back in the game for a little while anyway.
Anyhow, i finally got around to making my first real fretboard with my new saw.

Good work. Looks like its skirted nicely. Nice piece of maple too.
I really need to pull my finger out and make a fret saw. I've been putting off slotting a board for 3 weeks now lol

Sounds good mate. I get by with hand slotting but I'm having trouble with my shoulder so its too hard. Ive a couple of injections in it now so hopefully it will be better soon. I'm waiting on some maple neck and fretboards with some really nice flame and quilt

Sorry Perry, I couldnt help it.
I struggled with trying to color match the gaps from the Maple to the inlay. I did only use super glue. Got it acceptable after the 2rd one but still not 100%. Didnt really do my homework i guess and on top of that i wasnt patient enough. I worked within a time frame today and probably should have pushed it into an extra day. Oh well, I did learn something, Theres no fn short cuts in Luthery. It was a good learning curve and thats what im about right now.

Finally finished it last week, yay!
2H 2V 2T 3W series/split/parallel, will later add phasing or Jimmy Page configuration.
Body - Nitro
Neck and Headstock - Gun stock oil.
42.5mm at the nut with a very yummy thin neck.
Loud acoustically and nice and snap twangy with the MOP nut, good sustain.
As an experiment i used 3 different type of stains and all performed well with the timber and Nitro. Red is water based clothing dye. Yellow is clothing dye mixed with alcohol and Teak - Craftsman stain (Wattyl)

Awesome work Greg. That looks top class mate.
The finish is excellent. How do you like the pickups? I find them pretty good for the money

I love em. They have a lovely full mellow tone in the middle and when you give them some clout they respond accordingly. Splitting them gives you some wonderful tones indeed. Im keen to try other now.

Beautiful work mate.
If I could offer one constructive comment it would be , their isnt enough contrast between the fretboard and the pearl sharkies. Would have loved to see them fishies pop out just a bit more, as you did a great job laying them. I would have probably gon a green or blue pearl (paua) just to give it that little bit of contrast.
All in all an absolute belter of an axe.
Im just about to start my 3rd.

Your dead right Mannym. I said exactly the same thing to myself during. Thing is i just used what i had and i was stubbornly determined to find out what it was going to look like. I quite like the subtlness between the pair and it will be a once only deal, well, maybe on a bass. Anyway, you can get them to flash in your face with the right angle.
What can we expect with No 3?
