Guitar Respray/Repaint
Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knows of someone in the melbourne area (or on this forum in the melbourne area) who can repaint my guitar for me, and approximately how much that will cost. Its a pretty straight forward repaint job (as straight forward as this can be i guess) as i have a common shape (epiphone les paul), and just want it stripped, and repainted one colour (lime green). I would give it a go myself, but i am useless at spray painting. Anyway any info would help, thanks...

Hey mate,
Where in Melbourne are you located. You could find a local painting specialist to do it for you, like spray a two pack or something. Don't think this would be nearly as expensive as getting a builder to do it, provided you sand it all yourself.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah i'm located in preston, but newhere within like a 30-40mins drive is fine. I was just askin around cause it's not a really expensive guitar( ~$500) so i would rather have someone do it for a little less, than spend like $400 dollars on a new paint job which is almost what the guitar is worth...who's stu, and how many beers are we talking about ... yeah neway any painters in the area would be a great help. thanks...

I charge around $400 - $450 for a strip back and refinish. $500 if in bad nick
Not quite a couple of beers but that's the price you pay for a professional finish .
I don't see this as an option on a $400-$500 geet.
You can do it yourself as I did 23 years ago. A great learning experience
and with todays online resources for learning how to, you'll get the best of both worlds in a cheap
costing respray and alot of lessons in spray painting. Give it a crack, joker.

Do it yourself Joker.
Have a read through these forums ... and then come back and ask lots of questions ... you'll get helped every step of the way, end up with a great guitar, and you'll be able to bore family and friends #### - less with your guitar building / re-finishing stories just like the rest of us.
You'll find there's a diverse range of backgrounds and skills in here. I'm an old office worker with absolutely no background at all in any trade ... and then you've got the high end guys like Stu (oz tradie) and Perry (rhoads56) ... and all sorts in between.
But we all built or sprayed our first guitar ... and we all surprised ourselves with a great result.
Jump in ... do it!!!
