    Default The Hawk jnr

Here she is finally all together after all the wiring hassles. Put in the earth strap from bridge direct to jack today. Put in the string trees and a nice lil ding in the headstock screwing down the tremnut trees. Strung it up to tension and pulled the rod up to just engaged. I will let it settle for a day or so before I give it the final setup. Havent even plugged it in yet but had it roaring last nite with a loose wire off the bridge.

It is pretty raunchy with plenty bite and cut. 25.5" scale warmoth strat neck, grover locking heads schaller roller bridge and duncan vintage p90's. It was built for the blues. The body was built from 3 bits of fiji mahogany left over from another project. Used water based colortone lacquer with feast and watson stains.

The body shape is a ripoff of the old gibson blueshawk. I got the original drawing off a guy who makes guitars in nsw somwhere. Its weird how an email can end up. The body shape looks a bit weird in the photos but looks better in the flesh.

Originally the neck was a cbs style strat and really big so I hacked it down a bit. The body is small and also only 1.5" thick so it is a little guitar. Seems weird for siuch a tiny little guitar to have such a kickar#e in yer face sound.

Its gonna be sold after it is run in. I made a deal with swmbo that i could buy all the tools and make guitars as long as I sold em to cover the costs. Well its gonna take a few to cover all that but hey what the heck I am havin lots fun and I guess I will get to keep more as time goes by. I got to keep a tele so far.

Looks nice! I use Fijian mahogany a lot for my solidbody instruments. My local supplier has it up to 305 x 45. Easy as butter to work with, looks good and sounds great. I built a guitar for my daughter to raffle for a netball trip that's along the lines of yours... it's a great little blues machine... light, compact and very playable!
