Hello
Hi there. My name is Paul. I'm a cabinetmaker, specialising in guitar repairs, based in Hobart, Tasmania.
I didn't know this forum existed until, literally, yesterday.
Anyway, I thought I would introduce myself and hopefully show a few examples of my work (if I can find out how to attach the piccies).
Seems like a good forum, I've already learnt a few things I didn't know before. I hope I can contribute.

Welcome,
Is that guitar for a 3 armed man? Very tidy inlay work by the way. Got any builds in progress?
Cheers,
Peter

Lovely work Paul!
The entire photo collection is very nice but those fretboard inlays struck a real chord with me.....possibly the most appealing I have ever seen. I would love to see the full guitar one day.
What timber did you use on that guitar fingerboard with the bird inlays?
Cheers
Pete

Thank you for your welcomes.
The inlay is 3 different colours of mother of pearl. The fretboard and the headstock inlay took 40 hours to do. That doesn't include the time taken to design it. I used macassar ebony for the fretboard on that guitar. It's stripey compared to african ebony, but I like to think the markings were suggestive of a horizon and a background landscape. I'm afraid it's not so clear on the photos I've listed. I still have that guitar, so if you want to see it, and you're in Hobart, pop in.
(It's for sale too, if you're interested....)
Here's another not so clear photo...

Holy poopers! That butterfly is just sick. I'm trying to learn intarsia and inlay right now, so I'm in awe. Nice stuff.

G'day Paul
Long time no hear.
Looks like you've come a long way from building guitars at Winnaleah High School.
Lovely work - I'm very impressed.
