Default little update- neck fretted ect

ive been doing alot of work in the past 2-3 days as im trying to get as much done before i go back to uni (i am back, but its the first week where not too much happens) ive done the neck except for the neck carve and the headstock design (have the design, havent cut the template out yet though).
is has been my first neck and i am estatic with how well the fret job has shapes up, and how great the inlays look against the stripey ebony. the neck is to be bolted on a fair ways into the body, and includes the neck pup on it (hence the odd shape). this will be invisible as there is going to be a white pickguard covering it and some of the body (not too much as i like the figure of the wood). thats the body next to it, without the cavities as you can see.

Looking very nice, top work for your first attempt I've just cut some striped ebony up into fretboards, and that's the kind of finish I was hoping for - mine's much lighter. Did you do any dying? If so, can you give us details?

didnt do any dying, thats how it came. picked the boards up from guitar woods/gerard gillets shop. i was really surprised how easy fretting actually is. it sounded like it was one of the harder things on a guitar, and even harder with ebony, but i had no issues at all. there will be a walnut veneer over the top of the headstock to match the body.

how much lighter were your blanks?

The first fretting job always goes perfectly....its the subsequent ones that cause you grief

I'll add a pic to this post when I get to it, but alot lighter. Slightly more brown than Mahogany.

i just picked that book up from a discount bookshop for 20$ on the way home from uni. the guy behind the counter said he wanted to pick the book up but kept putting it off, we chatted quickly and i mentioned i was making guitars. turns out hes looking for a custom guitar so once i finish this one (should be soon) ill drop in and give him some photos and see what he thinks. might as well make a bit of money after spending so much cash on tools, the little things add up alot. probably a big part of why my bank accout has been steadily decreasing.
i have everything i need for this build regarding tools, and i have the wood for my next 2 projects anyway, so i should be able to save up a bit.
