Looking to start building 7 string electric guitar
Hey guys,
So I'm looking to give an electric guitar a crack at building but I'm struggling to find resources. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good books, Websites, Threads, etc that could be useful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

There are many threads on the forum here and resources on the internet. Google "making a seven string electric guitar" and you will have more than you can deal with.

This is generally regarded as one of the best books about building. I own a copy but haven't read the whole thing myself so I can't comment
Make Your Own Electric Guitar: Melvyn Hiscock, Brian May: 9780953104901: Amazon.com: Books
I just started reading this one which is more about designing than building but very interesting so far
Electric Guitar and Bass Design: The guitar or bass of your dreams, from the first draft to the complete plan: Leonardo Lospennato, Ned Steinberger, R. M. Mottola, Claudio and Claudia Pagelli, Ralf Martens, Sebastian Heck, Martin Off: 9783000296420:
This is a pretty cool DVD. Over three hours long. It starts with felling a cherry tree for the timber so it really is a complete guide!
Amazon.com: A Complete Custom Electric Guitar Build: Antony Dewar, Andrew Mason: Movies & TV

its pretty simple, you really don't need to buy any books or manuals, just ask questions. I find most written books to be way to complicated, almost as if the author has written the book in such a way as to justify there asking price.
what shape of guitar are you after. What guitar do you like to play
the key IMO when making a guitar, is, you play the neck not the body, the body is an opportunity to display your personal preferences and to mount hardware.

Robert O'Brien has just released his online electric guitar building course. I'm yet to purchase but from what I've seen the instructions are very clear and well produced. The time listing for each subject is quite long so I expect they do into a large amount of details and instruction. I'm looking forward to the lessons once I get the opportunity to buy them.
