    Default Bit of advice required

    Hey,
So After coming back from holidays I started to get stuck into my build. I glued up the body blank from Fijian mahogany... however by the time I planed the warp out of it I've only got 41mm thickness. The finish is going to be a solid colour. So I was thinking qld maple (beacuse both body and neck are mahogany) for a drop top but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Also best place to find something for a drop top... I'm in Melbourne, got the body wood from Matthews, is it worth paying them another visit to see what they've got? The other place is Aust. furniture timber. If there's somewhere online (maybe Tassie Tone Woods?) that would have something not too pricey that would be good. Dimensions are roughly 450x550mm.
Also I have the neck marked up (african mahogany), need to cut a scarf for it and don't have access to a bandsaw... I was contemplating making a mitre box and cutting it by hand. Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be good also.
    Thanks
    James

    Gday Bob,
Probably a bit pricey for what I'm after. I've actually got some blackwood lying around, maybe I'll get that cut and use it for the top.
    Cheers
